Up for sale is a late 80's Schwinn Sierra mountain bike, currently set up as a coaster brake single speed. I have used this bike for light commuting near UofL for the past 3 years. The top tube and seat tube both measure 23". For reference, I'm 6' 1", ride a 58 cm road bike, and this bike fits me pretty well.
The frame and Fork are made from 4130 chromoly and were manufactured by Giant. Wheel size is 26". The front wheel is original, and the back wheel has a Shimano coaster brake and is about a year old. Rear tire was recently replaced. Gearing is currently set up as 36x18 which works pretty well for stop/ go traffic. The crank has a 110 BCD so any compact road ring will work if you want to change the gearing. Crank length is 175 mm. To the best of my knowledge the bars and stem are original. I have the bars setup upside down right now because I think it looks cool but I can flip them around if you prefer.
A couple of things to note. The previous owner of the bike had a stuck seatpost which, by the looks of the seat clamp area, he removed using a blow torch. There's also a cut to the top of the tub tube near the seat clamp. I've been riding it like this for 3 years and there are no cracks so I'm pretty confident it's just cosmetic. Additionally, the front hub is getting kind of worn out and makes some noise, as does the bottom bracket.
This thing is really fun to ride and would make a great cruiser or bar bike. If you have any questions about it or want more pictures, let me know. Not interested in trades, cash sale only.
