Vintage Solid Glass Bookends, each featuring a young gal with 2 geese, created in the style of M.I. Hummel's immensely popular porcelain "Goose Gal," itself modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1936. These bookends were poured by the historic L.E. Smith Glass Co. and are 7.75" tall, with a 5" x 3" base. Each weighs a little over 2.5 pounds.

Most folks I've encountered who seem to know more about these items than I do place their vintage in the 1950's, but there are a few others who put the vintage range from 1940's to 1970's.

As can be seen in the photos, the glass has taken on the yellowing that is not uncommon in vintage and antique glass, radiation and sunlight most often being the cause, as I understand it. I'm told (and have read) that there are many ways to remove this yellowing...and I have myself successfully used a few tricks to clear up other yellowed antique glass, but am aware that doesn't mean these tricks would work on all yellowed antique/vintage glass. Regardless...I've been strongly encouraged, and agree with the sentiment, that it should be the decision of the buyer whether they want to change the character of these gals and geese in this way =) There is one slight chip-like defect which can be seen (barely) in the picture with the finger pointing to it.

$25 for the set - or make an offer =) All fair offers considered! (see seller's other listings if interested in making an offer based on multiple selections)
