Trail Ride Leader, Feeder, Instructor (Simpsonville)

GUIDED RIDE LEADER: Hours flexible - we offer rides 7days per week.

Are you an intermediate, experienced trail rider (English or Western)? Red Fern Riding Center is seeking qualified, Guided Horseback Trail Ride Leaders for the spring/summer/fall guided ride season.

You will lead small groups (4-6) on 1 hour trail rides around our beautiful park. You MUST have trail riding experience, be confident enough to ride and instruct at the same time, be able to hop on and off your horse, easily, and pony safely (if needed) - all while chatting up our guests.

Generally our customers have little to no riding experience, so you must be very safety oriented and observant of both people and horses during your rides. Ride bookings vary between 1-4 groups per day; with a 6 person max in each ride.

Reservations are required for booking but we do have folks book day of (3 hours notice is required). Your schedule would be determined weekly based on your availability. Bookings would fall into those time slots. Bookings cannot be guaranteed but they are pretty regular during the busy season. You will still be paid for no show's, weather related cancellations are generally rescheduled.

This is an Independent Contractor position. You must be 18 or older.

Pay is 40% commission of each rider booked in your group per day. We book rides 7 days per week.

Please email a short "Wrangler" resume about your previous riding experience.

Duties would include:

Catching trail horses from the fields. Brushing and tacking up.

Greeting customers, sign waivers and get helmets fitted.

Adjust tack, mount and safety check each customer and provide a short introductory lesson.

Lead out 1 hour rides (there will be one of two guides depending on the group size). Constantly monitor and ensure safety and comfort level of the customers, engage customers and help them feel comfort and safe.

Depending on the shift you will untack clean, wash and turn out the trail horses.

Requirements: Must be an intermediate rider (western or English). Must be safety oriented and able to follow instruction.

Must have customer service experience or aptitude.

Must be 18 or older and able to drive yourself to and from the barn. Safely and customer service training is required.

Job Type: Part-time

AM HORSE FEEDER: Hours. 7 - 9:30 AM Friday, Saturday, Sunday morning.

Looking for an experienced horse person to feed part-time Friday through Sunday 7:00 am to 9:30 am (approx). Feeding takes approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on how fast you walk 😃🐎

You must have some horse handling experience, have the ability to learn, and grow, your horsemanship skills. Have a keen eye for safety and horse health.

You will be provided with lots of training and support to be sure that you are confident, and safe in this role. This is a great barn and a positive, drama free, working environment.

If you like to exercise you'll definitely get 10,000 steps in before lunch! If you love to ride, there will be opportunities for you as well.

You must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation. This is a independent contractor position paid by the shift.

Duties include:
Feed approximately 30 horses - some are fed in stalls and some are given feed bags in the pasture.

RIDING INSTRUCTOR: Hours, Saturdays and some evenings.

We are seeking a riding To teach our younger, 5 to 12-year-old, students.

Most of the students would have either never ridden before or are beginner riders.

We are an English barn and teach from a dressage foundation. We do not let our students advance (especially to jumping) until they have a solid seat and very clear understanding of ground safety as well.

If you’ve been in Ponyclub it’s a plus. We do spend time with our students teaching them safety; how to catch the horse, brush, put on tack and riding.

You must be comfortable teaching small children, be patient and have great customer service skills. This is a commission based position.
