Time to re-home my much beloved and well cared for JD 420...
I am down sizing a bit, it never gets used, and it takes up a lot of space.
The tractor had a frame off restoration which was complete in perhaps 2015/2016?
I am not sure exactly, Im still looking for older pics...
Since restoration, it has mostly been a big toy to carry things around with in the bucket. It has not cut grass or done any substantial work since restoration...
More specifics..
• Early model 1983
• Current hour meter 1458, it cannot have more than 25 hours on it since restoration
• Frame stripped and powder coated
• Wheels stripped and powder coated
• New tires all the way around
• Onan B48G completely rebuilt with Onan parts - block bored over size by local engine builder / machine shop
• Transmission, rear axle, and brakes all rebuilt with JD parts
• Steering gear / valve rebuilt by JD dealer
• Found and used a NOS wiring harness during reassembly as well as NOS time delay module
• Body tins professionally painted by local body shop
• New JD seat
• Comes with rear 3 point, front Johnny Bucket (un-restored), 4 wheel weights, and chains and *freshly* restored 50" mower deck
• During restoration, bolts and fasteners from the JD dealer were used unless it was a very very common part that could be found at the local hardware store
• I had a rear PTO on it, but took it off. In its place I wired in 12 V Amphenol connector to connect an electric sprayer or winch - it toggles on with the rear PTO switch through a starter motor relay (look at the red "thingy" on top of the axle in the rear pic
• Probably a lot more that I cant think of at the moment
I have a folder of receipts and probably dont want to add them all up.. Also included, various spare parts and manuals.
Recent work: new charge pump seal, new u joints, new after market carb, intake resealed, fresh oil change, new battery 05/23
(have the original NOS carb, but it will need cleaned / rebuilt)
As a 1983 model, she is 43 years old and is ready for another 40!
Time to pass her on to another care giver.
Located in zip code 47119..
As this is an older restoration, she is no longer a "10 of 10", but a very strong 8.5 - 9. With some clean up, she can be a 10 again. The belly pan is currently not installed but is included with new JD fasteners.
